Peter Smale
I had a long career with the Ministry of Defence and in the electronics industry before retiring in 1997.
The 'Daily Mail' prostate cancer awareness campaign in 1988 prompted me to have a check-up. This diagnosed prostate cancer and I underwent a radical prostatectomy in 1999. Also in that year I helped found the Prostate Cancer Network, Solent (PCaSo) Committee. Then in 2001 I was invited to help found the Patient Support Group Committee at Frimley Park Hospital.
I am particularly keen that we encourage the younger generation of men and their partners to become involved in spreading the vitally important message.
