Grandads, we love you!
Two five year olds raise over £1000 for their Grandads in a 10 mile sponsored walk.
Two five-year old boys had their much loved grandfathers in mind when they took on a 10-mile walk to raise money for the Prostate Project. David Vorwek, a pupil at Horsell Village School and his friend Ewan Smith took part in a sponsored event around Shalford Park.
David was watched by his grandfather, David Foulke, 72, who had flown in from the US. Mr Foulke was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2001 but is hopeful that the disease is not progressive. Ewan's grandfather is also fighting the disease.
David’s mother Susan, said the family’s experience had made them more aware of factors which could influence the development of prostate cancer. "This is an experience that David will cherish and repeat over many years" she said. "The family hopes that all men will eventually come to understand prostate cancer and the importance of early detection".
