PCSPES-2 Trial starts at Frimley Park
Frimley Park is running a trial to look at the effects of PCSpes-2, a drug which was used worldwide in patients with prostate cancer but withdrawn because of concerns about contamination of the medicine with other drugs and the effect on blood clotting, etc.
The new drug is an improved version of the herbal medicine, which has undergone rigorous testing to exclude contamination and to ensure that the formulation is consistent. We are now recruiting patients, who have ceased to respond to first or second-line hormone treatments, in whom the number of options for treatment are limited. It is hoped that this will provide yet another useful arm in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Details of the trial are available from Mr Bruce Montgomery at Frimley Park Hospital.
